LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge that the land on which we live and work in Aurora, Ontario, is the traditional and treaty territory of the Indigenous peoples. Specifically, we recognize the Chippewas of Georgina Island and other Nations whose presence remains significant today.

We honor the special relationship the Chippewas of Georgina Island have with these lands and waters as stewards and protectors. We also acknowledge that Aurora is part of the treaty lands of the Mississaugas and Chippewas, as recognized through Treaty #13 and the Williams Treaties of 1923.

By acknowledging the rich cultural heritage that has shaped this territory, we commit to deepening our understanding of Indigenous history, cultures, and perspectives. We strive to build respectful relationships, based on trust and mutual respect, with Indigenous communities. We stand in solidarity with them in their pursuit of justice, healing, and reconciliation.
