FAQ – Notary & Commissioner Services
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
Bring:
The document(s) you need notarized or commissioned
Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s licence, passport, PR card, etc.)
If you’re certifying a true copy, bring both the original and the copy.
Do I need to sign the document in front of you?
Yes.
For affidavits, declarations, or any sworn document, you must sign in front of the notary/commissioner.
If the document is already signed, you may need to re-sign it during the appointment.
What’s the difference between a Notary Public and a Commissioner of Oaths?
A Notary Public can verify signatures, certify true copies, and notarize documents for international use.
A Commissioner of Oaths can take oaths and declarations for Ontario-only documents.
We offer both services.
Can you certify true copies of passports, licences, and ID?
Yes — we can certify true copies of most identification documents, educational records, and other originals.
How long does the appointment take?
Most notary appointments take 5–15 minutes.
Do both parents need to attend for a child travel consent letter?
No.
Only the parent giving consent must attend and show ID.
Do you accept walk-ins?
No. By appointment ONLY.
